We Buy Books!
We are always interested in buying good quality books on a wide range of subjects , but following some very large recent purchases, and others already in the diary, we are currently very well-stocked. We are however still happy to receive details of books for sale with a view to purchase in the latter part of 2017.
Subjects of interest include the following:
Local History & Topography
Railways & Canals, Industrial Archaeology
Art & Architecture
Clocks & Watches
British History / Military History
Antiquarian Books / Folio Society (post 1980)
Books can be brought to the shop or we will travel to view larger collections. However please contact us BEFORE bringing books to the shop. We have limited storage space available and it is impractical to deal with book buying when the shop is busy. Our book buyer is normally in the shop on a Monday and Tuesday, but please make an appointment beforehand to avoid a wasted journey.
It is always helpful to receive details of the books for sale, a simple and effective means is to send us images of the book spines, as many customers now do. Attaching the images to an email is the simplest and quickest method.
As a guide, we would not generally be interested in purchasing the following:-
Books published by Reader's Digest / Hamlyn / BCA
'Coffee table' type books on any subject
Railway books by Garrett / Freeman Allen / Adley / Atterbury / Nock / Hamilton-Ellis or similar
Any bibles post 1850
Childrens Annuals post 1970
The condition of books offered will always be reflected in our offer to you. Major faults such as missing dustwrappers, torn pages, missing plates will dramatically reduce the value of a book. We are always happy to give guidance in such matters.
Please note that for all book buys valued at less than £10, a credit will be given against future shop purchases.
We are happy to receive book lists by email or post, we will reply to all such enquiries.
