188pp, illustrated by colour figures, distinguishing the different columns or squadrons in every evolution. Rebound with new leather backstrip and new gilt on red spine title label, 5 raised bands, original boards retained. Some edge rubbing/loss to boards. General foxing throughout, portrait frontispiece has repair to 1 corner, slightly affecting illustration. A few minor edge tears, longer tear to pages 183/4 with minor loss. Pages 3/4 are missing and appear to have been so when rebound, otherwise contents complete. Fascinating study of a key time in naval history. Extremely scarce, only found in Institutional Libraries.
